So over the holiday I planned on reading 6 books. However, I only got around to reading two. Ugh now I have a serious back log on books. Here are the two I read.
1. Black Hole: How an idea Abandoned by Newtonians, Hated by Einstein, and Gambled on by Hawking became Loved by Marcia Bartusiak: Okay so one of my goals is to read more non-fiction. I actually do enjoy reading about non-fiction and learning new things. It just seems like fiction always calls my name. Anyway, I'm really into astrophysics. The idea behind it all just blows my mind. The universe is so complex. This book told the history behind our concept of black holes. I find it crazy to think at one point in time we didn't know what gravity was. Even know, we don't fully understand gravity. Anyway, this book was pretty short, but in depth. The author did a great job writing it. I felt like I was reading a story rather than a bunch of random facts. I will warn you. You need some knowledge of physics to understand many of the complex concepts discussed in this book. I found myself google physicists and theories that are written about in the book. I highly suggest it to anyone interested in learning more about our universe. The theories behind the black hole are so complex and intricate.

2. Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson: So, this isn't that happiest book in the world, but it's an addicting read. Lia and Cassie are two best friends who made a bet to see who could be the skinniest. The book begins with Lia finding out that Cassie has just died alone in a hotel room and no one knows why. Wintergirls is a book that exposed the thoughts and feelings of someone battling anorexia. It takes a real look into the brain of Lia and how she struggles with the disease. The entire time you read this, you will be fighting for her to overcome it, and all the while you are dying to know what exactly happened to Cassie.
